Real Polish Review: The Best Polish Food in Barcelona

Barcelona is renowned for its diverse culinary scene, offering everything from traditional Catalan dishes to flavors from around the world. As Polish students studying here, we quickly realized how much we missed the taste of home. Determined to find authentic Polish flavors, we explored the city’s Polish restaurants, sampling everything from pierogi to żurek. After plenty of tasting and comparing, we’re excited to share our honest review of the top Polish spots in Barcelona!

Wawel: The Best Gołąbki You’ll Ever Have

Located at Carrer de Sicília, 330, near the Sagrada Familia, Wawel is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Polish food. Its convenient location makes it a great spot for both locals and tourists looking to experience a taste of Poland in the heart of Barcelona.

The menu offers a range of traditional dishes, including bigos (a hearty meat and sauerkraut stew), potato pancakes, and various sausages. To complement the food, they also serve a selection of Polish beers, including their house-brewed Wawel IPA. The restaurant has received praise for its flavorful and diverse menu, and it’s even caught the attention of renowned footballer Robert Lewandowski, who enjoyed their pierogi.

One of the highlights of our visit was ordering a Polish tasting platter, which allowed us to try a variety of dishes in one meal. It’s an excellent option to share with friends and experience more flavors at once. Overall, Wawel impressed us with its authenticity, rich flavors, and generous portions.

For those who not only want to taste Polish cuisine but also bring home traditional ingredients, Krakowiak is the perfect destination. Conveniently located near Sagrada Família, this store offers a wide selection of Polish products, including kielbasa (smoked sausages), pickles, and frozen pierogi.

Beyond being a grocery store, Krakowiak also serves freshly prepared Polish dishes, making it a fantastic spot for a quick meal or takeaway. Whether you’re part of the Polish community in Barcelona or simply curious to explore Eastern European flavors, this place is worth a visit.

PolkaBar: Pierogi, Vodka, Repeat

If you’re looking for a cozy and fun atmosphere while enjoying Polish cuisine, PolkaBar is the place to be! This charming spot brings Polish food to life with homemade dishes prepared with love and attention to detail.

The menu features a great variety of traditional Polish dishes, ranging from street food favorites to classic home-cooked meals. The standout? Their extra-large pierogi—perfectly stuffed, flavorful, and truly satisfying. The drink selection is just as impressive, offering a range of imported Polish beers and unique vodka-based cocktails.
